Bio

A native of Detroit, Tim studied music theory, guitar performance and film composing at Loyola University Chicago and played professionally in Chicago for 15 years before moving back to the Detroit area. He has played guitar and bass in various bands and projects, ranging from jazz guitar to bluegrass and rock to traditional Irish music. This eclectic musical background has led to Tim’s unique playing style which focuses on dynamic rhythmic work, interesting harmony and a soulful blues quality.

Tim’s playing experience includes composing music for independent film, session work, clubs, weddings, small private parties, fundraising galas, arenas and everything in between. With this vast experience, Tim has what many musicians lack: an understanding of the music business and the ability to read a crowd and adapt each performance to his audience. He brings to every performance top-notch playing as well as a dependable professional demeanor.

Tim is available for solo performances, as a sideman/session player or leading the Tim Killeen Jazz Band, which features Tim on guitar and any of the following instruments: drums, bass, saxophone, trumpet and female vocalist. Each performance is tailored to the specific event and set-lists can include American Songbook, jazz standards, bebop, swing, bossa nova and samba. Tim and his Jazz Band are available for private parties, cocktail parties, corporate events, restaurants & bars, weddings, session work, and clubs. They promise to give you the best Detroit jazz band experience, whatever your budget. All gigs and events are welcome!
